So my virtual self gets a phone call from my new agent, Max. Max of Bling Talent. Like Arnie, Max calls me every hour or so with new roles to audition for. Unlike Arnie, Max doesn’t operate out of a hole-in-the-wall in Brockwillow. In fact, Max is doing so well that he is customarily encrusted in jewels, and openly tells me how he had to sleep with someone to get me this next audition. You see, it’s Awards Ceremony season in Stardom land right now (just patched in yesterday). And Max says that the producers of this very deep and serious film are interested in having me on board.
Meanwhile, I realize that switching to a more well-connected agent without sasquatch posters on his wall is probably key to advancing my virtual career. Yet I feel a pang of regret for leaving Arnie behind. Arnie, who “wouldn’t be able to afford a beer to cry in” if I didn’t audition for that drain cleaner commercial. Arnie, who welcomed me with open arms when I first stepped off the bus into my broke ass apartment in Brockwillow. There will never be another agent like Arnie. He was my first agent, after all.
Max is a Class A schmoozer, but Arnie had heart. I’ll miss him dearly… but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do.
